Doesn't live up to the hype
I have owned the Dyson DC25 Ball for about one year. I have two dogs and one long hair cat - oh, and two teenagers. I vacuum about three to four times each week. I vacuum carpet, hard wood, ceramic tile, rugs and furniture.
Pros:
-Bagless and easy to empty but better do it outside or in the garage because the dust flies.
-Can go from carpet/rugs to hard floor with a click of a button.
-Canister holds a fair amount of pet hair etc.
-Easy to manuever with the ball.
-5 year warranty
-Cord is plenty long
Cons:
-The ball doesn't fit under anything in my house including my kitchen cabinets.
-The on board attachments are pretty much worthless for my purposes. The are only good for occasionally sucking up a hunk of hair or dirt in a place the vacuum doesn't reach. Otherwise they are pretty unruly to use.
-Suction is not as good as my old Wind Tunnel - I have to go over and over my carpet with the Dyson to pick up pet hair - not so with my Wind Tunnel.
-Overpriced for what you get.
-The exhaust blows pet hair up into the air and it lands on my kitchen countertops!!
I gave my old Wind Tunnel to my daughter for college. When she recently brought it back I used it all over my house and realized it is clearly superior to my Dyson. The Wind Tunnel picks up better and makes my carpet look better after vacuuming. The Dyson barely lifts up the carpet and after I vacuum I can still see the paths in my carpet unless I go over and over the carpet. The Wind Tunnel picked up the dog hair in the "dog porch" on the rugs after one pass. The Dyson has to be run over and over the rugs to pick up all of the hair. I am sending the Dyson back with my daughter and keeping my old Wind Tunnel. I really think Dyson has everyone fooled because when you see what you are vacuuming up you think your vacuum is doing a better job like with the Dyson. The ball technology is just a gimmick as well.
