Grinding wheels too coarse in my opinion, for honing fine knives.
This is subjective, and could not have been "judged" by reading all the reviews, which I did before purchase.
In my judgment, this sharpener uses grinding wheels that are much too coarse to be used on high quality knives, to get a finely honed edge. The sharpener has two spinning grinder wheels: one side is for "sharpening" and the other side for "honing." The sharpening side is so coarse, it makes me feel like I'd like to put my garden shears in there for sharpening. I think my shop grinder in the basement is of a similar grit.
The honing side feels like it would be good for sharpening a dull knife, but not for honing a good knife. The directions recommend a honing every time you use your knife. Well, that is generally true, but if you used this sharpener to hone your knife every time you used it, within six months your knife would be gone. It is that coarse, and removes that much metal, each time you "hone" it.
