Plant arrived frozen. Fungus gnats.
So I've been browsing and wanting to order from Costa Farms for a while now. I decided to spruce up my partners home office as a Christmas present - and thought a big, low maintenance snake plant would be perfect for the space. I caught the delivery truck as they dropped it off yesterday and immediately unboxed it, only to find that the plant appears to be frozen.. The soil was frozen like a block and the leaves had a layer of frost. Unsurprisingly I suppose, considering the extremely thin single-layer of wrap "protecting" it and shipping box with holes in it. I put it in our grow tent to try to warm it up and give it some light, but as the frost melted and leaves defrosted, they started to bend over. I would have imagined that a company of this caliber would understand that a heat pack is needed during winter? I immediately messaged Costa Farms to see if it's possible to save the plant - haven't heard back yet. This was supposed to be given as a Christmas present in a couple days, but I'm not sure it will survive. Clearly not giftable either way. (It's also shorter than advertised.. cherry on top of an already poor situation) Overall I'm quite disappointed in my experience - and now missing one of the main components of the Christmas present. Certainly will not recommend to others if the situation isn't corrected.
EDIT: Plant officially dead.. Fungus gnat larvae however, appears to have survived - and flies have now been introduced into my home. Still no response from company. It appears they have no intention of correcting, refunding - or even acknowledging - this issue.
