Could have been so good
First let me say that no one captures the beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry like Frank, but this book fell so far short of the mark it was just sad. Grandma Maisie was the only character who rang true, mom Liz was either a passionate champion for abused women or a door mat for her own husband. Daughter Ashley was a total airhead (24 years old and she has never heard of a porterhouse steak), who says awesome a lot and lets a guy treat her like trash because he might someday run for president and she wants to be first lady. The characters were flat and one dimensional and I honestly didn't care what happened to any of them. This author is capable of SO much more
