So here is the tale of my maiden voyage with the Diva Cup... After hearing AMAZING things about this product and being all together fed up with the cost of tampons, I decided to give the Diva Cup a try and I was actually really excited about it! The benefits are super appealing. You save tons of Moo-La in the long run. Your used tampons won't be polluting the earth long after your gone and done bleeding all over the place. And no more running to the bathroom all the damn time! I was sooooo excited. I was ready for my life to change...And BOY has it changed. Last night I sterilized that bad boy, watched all sorts of YouTube videos, read articles, read the directions in the box 3 times to be sure, then I popped it in like the pro I was. Fast forward 5 hours to about 2 am, I wake up to go potty and decide to check on the little homey that I was sure was going to be my new best friend during that bloody, slasher film time of the month. But, that thing had shifted. It had travelled north and was at a weird angle. And that suction was kin to what I would imagine to be the same strength as the suction cups on a giant squid.... Fast forward 4 hours later, it's 6 am and I am porky piggin' it in the squatting position on my bathroom floor, nuckles deep in my vagina, sobbing on the phone to my husband who is deployed over seas, trying to figure out how the hell to get out of this nightmare. Ended up doing a half day at work and making an emergency visit to my OBGYN. She raved on and on about how great the Diva Cup was and "blah, blah, blah learning curve". Then she saw what I had going on down on the business end of things, and after ten minutes of her tugging and pulling on my cervix, making it feel like my whole uterus was about to be ripped out, she finally admitted once the Diva Cup had been destroyed in order to break the seal, that she really would understand if I never tried another menstrual cup again. All in all, this was a good experience in the sense that I will never put a suction cup anywhere near my nether regions again. My maiden voyage with the Diva Cup is similar to that of the Titanic's. Luckily, I survived. That Diva Cup, on the otherhand, did not make it and the jury is still out on my poor lady parts. I would not recommend this product.
