Cheaper materials and too often sewn improperly
I've bought 40 sweater bags, 20 units total. Here's what I've found:
While you get two for a low price they don't last well because:
-bags are of thin-weight cotton fabric,
-the stitches are widely spaced on the taped seams
-the thread and zipper are just okay and turning two corners means it may jump off its teeth and does so
-The top is entirely clear vinyl, so if you pack several sweaters in one, you cannot see much of what's beneath the top one easily and must open it to look,
-Worst, 4 of the 40 Household Essentials bags' seams let go of the vinyl window because the vinyl wasn't sewn into the seam at all, or by so little, it gave way, leaving a gaping hole at the seam when brand new!
So, 10% of the bags I paid for were utterly useless unless I re-sew the vinyl seam properly myself. Argh!
Note:
I buy Covermates canvas sweater bags now, (also on amzn): expensive for one BUT there are two sturdy zippers, mid-weight cotton canvas, well-stitched, taped seams and sewn-on handles for pulling off a shelf, a small vinyl window on side lets me see all the layers within, and I routinely store 6 two-ply wmns L t-necks in one! Not great for bulky big sweater coats but great for 90% of what I want to store away from predatory moths. Not one has failed me yet and I really stuff them full.
