Returning this fan for false claims of safety. The heater element is at the bottom of the fan and is where the heat drifts out. The upper fan is off during heating. The metal mesh covering (looks like a speaker cover) gets VERY hot, far too hot to touch for more than a second. This is not an exaggeration. It has the ability to melt plastic or scold things it comes in contact with. I’m confused about their claims of safety. “Cool-touch housing”? “Safe ceramic element”? I can confirm that this heater heats a small room very fast, but I have a curious 2 year-old in the house and he’s very easily touch it or leave something to rest on the heater and start a fire, like a pile of clothes. I don’t think this product is defective, if you read the manual they warn you of the severe safety hazard. I selected this heater for the safety benefits. This is a very serious false marketing claim from Lasko. Oh you want to know how well the fan works? Awful. It doesn’t generate a strong current at full power and arms length. The remote and controls are all A+. Returning due poor fan speed/power and the risky/unsafe heater cover. Burns your skin.
