This review is not about the show, which I love(!), but rather the upcoming Almost Complete Set (and emphasis on "Almost"). By now, you all aware that Paramount have been re-releasing all the season sets of shows that have ended and put them all into one convenient complete series set which is a pro and a con. The pro is that if you a love a show and want it on DVD, the complete box set is the way to go. The con is that there have been season sets of selected shows that either had the music changed due to rights or features edits and sadly, the latter applies to The Ren and Stimpy Show. You're probably also aware that the Paramount releases are cut; Spike/TNN masters for selected episodes of seasons 1 and 2, cuts to the other seasons for no reason whatsoever, and time-compression for selected episodes for all seasons. To add insult to injury, the uncut versions air on TV and are available on Amazon Instant and even still, Paramount decides to release the same cut releases into one set and for what? The only pro here is that it doesn't include the Adult Party Cartoon. My advice to you is to contact Paramount anyway you can and tell them to do this release right instead; uncut episodes for every single episode of the original Nick series. I think we can all agree we're not going to live this twice, so the quicker you contact them the better. UPDATE 10/30: Paramount is re-releasing this again in January 2022, just with different cover art in shelf-friendly packaging which they usually do with their complete series sets now and/or combining seasons sets into 1 for those who prefer getting the series in 1 set rather than multiple. I love the direction Paramount is going with their home video division lately, but re-releasing this with new packaging is still an insult to those who wants the series in its complete uncut form. Fortunately, they also have a deal with Shout! Factory and they released Jimmy Neutron lately so now would be a good time for them to look into R&S.
