Beautiful and boils water...the only two good things about it
My officemate and I go through a lot of water kettles. Usually we buy the cheap $10 kind, but we decided to splurge and get something more durable and attractive. We got attractive. We did NOT get durable.
We literally curse this kettle each time we use it. We hate it that much. Let me list the reasons why:
1. It's heavy and awkward to hold, even when empty. But hey, it's not like it's breakable or anything (actually, it is).
2. You can't actually see how much water is in it unless you open the lid, which brings us to flaw #3...
3. The lid is hard to take off! In fact, within a month of use, the rubber o-ring around the inner part of the lid split so it no longer seals (see picture). At least it's not so hard to lift up the lid, but now it can easily fall off and break. Fortunately, this doesn't affect its ability to heat water.
4. It actually takes awhile to boil the water. It does have a handy blue light in the on/off switch that lights up when it's actively heating.
It IS a very attractive appliance. It's too bad the designer didn't think of the product's actual usability as well.
