Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

Because Edifier is a brand that I am not familiar with, I read a number of reviews and online comparisons before making this purchase. I made the decision to purchase on the strength of these reviews. Unfortunately, the speakers are a disappointment. The build quality is solid and weighty, which gives a good first impression, but upon firing them up I immediately found them to be very boom-y. They lack the crisp clarity that other speakers in this price range have. Instruments seem muddled and cymbals/high-hats are all but not-existent. There are some other design elements which seem poorly conceived, such as the fact that you must use the remote to control certain features like digital eq or input selection - all of which I could overlook if the sound quality was up to par. Add to this the fact that Amazon will not process returns on these speakers for some reason - the reason I was given was that returns are prohibited for items containing flammable gasses or liquids?? Seems fishy. edit: deducted a star because upon closer review I realized the wood grain is fake and screen printed. Do not recommend. There are much better speakers available at this price point such as the Klipsch R-15PM or Audioengine A5+
