Originally when i had purchased this unit in 2017, I was told that AquaTru (and filters) were all manufactured and made in California. Turns out this is far from true. Here is a pre-canned response I now get from customer service, now that it's time to purchase filter replacements, and they cannot hide the country of origin any more: “We are taking our filter quality very serious; the filters are the engine room of a water purifier. We have full control of the supply chain of the filters. The carbon filters that is in the pre-filter and the last stage VOC filter we buy directly from the manufacture in India, on a side note most carbon filter is produced in India due to the availability of activate coconut carbon in India. The manufacture of the carbon filters is a Berkshire Hathaway company. For the RO filter we are using GE membrane witch we are buying directly from GE. On top of buying these filters from larger reputable company we also do incoming testing of each lot of filters to make sure that they meet the original performance specification and our quality requirements.” With the quality control epidemic and public alarm there is about chinese companies taking shortcuts and other scandals, do you want to put your health in jeopardy with your water supply?
