Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I bought this for my wife, so she can photograph the jewelry that she makes. When I looked at this, I knew the quality would be questionable (I am a photographer of 30+ years) - but my wife wanted something simple and easy to use. So I read a few of the reviews here on AMAZON and since it had a fair number of 5 star reviews I figured it would be good enough. The should box is very nice and it has a nice case for it. The backgrounds are fine, nothing to really comment on either way. The lights are poor quality. They are not strong enough, they have a pattern of light that creates hot spots, they do not raise high enough to give a nice even pattern of light. The lights are very cheaply made and I expect to break fairly easy. The tripod for the camera is a really bad attempt at being usable - to weak to use with a Sony A3000 camera. Very poorly fitted and cheap materials. The Cell-phone holder does not screw into the tripod - the screw sizes are different. The reality is kit is poorly made. Sure it's useable - but is it worth $57? No. Any hardware has the "dollar store" CHINA quality to it. I would advise not to buy this. Spend more on a kit here or make one yourself from parts from the local HomeDepot/Walmart/etc. UPDATE: I reordered the G-Star Photography 30 Inch Studio Photo Light Tent Lighting Box w/ 3 Backdrops as a replacement, it arrived yesterday. VERY, VERY NICE (it's much larger) but you will need to buy lights or make due with lights you have already at home. I should have ordered this in the first place.
