So my wonderful winter wool knit hat which has give me many years of great service is finally starting to fall apart. I haven't been able to find anything to replace it. I like Carhartt stuff, I live in Carhartt painter's pants so I decided I'd buy the as described, "Carhartt-Acrylic Watch Cap-Black Branded Winter Ski Hat, Beanie". That after all pretty much says it all. I kind of figured a $40 Carhartt knit hat would have to be pretty good but it was so unimpressive I didn't even bother to take it out of the plastic bag. Kind of looks like a $12 maybe $15 acrylic knit hat. The tag on the hat says it's an A18. On the Carhartt website they're selling A18 hats for $12.99. Amazon is also selling A18 hats for $12.99. So are 5 other sellers. I bought mine from an outfit called Golf Prose for $39.95. That's over three times the price. The reviews for the hats Golf Prose has sold are generally very good. The reviews you may notice tend to be very short and often emphasize how warm the hat is. I am assuming the hat I bought for $40 is the exact same hat selling elsewhere for $13, unless I'm missing something here. Do I feel naïve? Yes. Should have done my homework before my purchase.
