Great way to let Amazon rule your life. After a few weeks they will start "upgrading" your device, and "updating" it with new applications you do not want or use. They will put those applications first or second on your carosel. If you uninstall them, they will reappear. MayDay is no longer functional. If you contact customer service they will transfer you eight times or more. Later Edit: Oddly enough after I posted this, we removed the apps, AGAIN, and this time they actually stayed gone (so far). Still, it isn't quite a tablet (not all Android apps can be put on Kindle), and it isn't quite a Kindle - being heavier and backlit like a computer. You will need a matt screen cover to read in daylight, or bright artificial lights. Unlike my tablet it seems unable to hold passwords to connect to public wifi that I frequently use. It does hold the password for my home wifi so I don't know why. Without wifi many of the apps don't work, including games. I was given this as a gift, which was a very nice gift - but I will be replacing it with a tablet and a nice Kindle Paperwhite to read on. EDITED - RE: FREE TIME DO NOT EVER TOUCH THIS APP IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO SET A PASSWORD AND HAVE TO PUT IT IN EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU OPEN YOUR KINDLE FOR THE REST OF ITS LIFE. IT CANNOT BE TURNED OFF - EVEN BY SOCALLED TECH SUPPORT. IT CANNOT BE REMOVED. IF YOU EVER TOUCH IT YOU WILL BE FORCED TO SET A PASSWORD AND WILL THEN HAVE TO PUT THAT PASSWORD IN EVER SINGLE TIME YOU TRY TO USE THIS PIECE OF CRAP.
