NOT gluten free - false advertising
I thoroughly explain my 1 star reviews across the board, although I cannot tell you about the taste because I will not eat them. Read to see why. I purchased this as a splurge and a special treat for my 4-year-old daughter who has Celiac. She has no tolerance for gluten at all and after exposure within a few hours will have projectile vomiting and then it takes her about a week to get back to normal and feeling good again. I inspected the listing thoroughly, well I thought I had. The picture of the box shows that it is processed in a facility with other allergens but wheat is not listed. There is a picture of the package of the pastry itself but it is quite small and a bit blurry so I did not inspect it further. It does state on the image of the wrapper that gluten is a possibly contaminate, so I will concede that to the company. I was not able to find anywhere where I would be concerned that gluten would be an issue. I ordered 1 box of each flavor, $50!! It was worth it for my daughter to be able to have the same experience as other children in her class that come to her school/daycare with Pop-Tarts. I know they are not nutritional and this is something was purchased as a special treat since there are so many times that she cannot have the same experience as other kids in her class when they have snacks and so forth. I send her with her lunch and snacks but it is still not the same as getting what everyone else gets when you are 4. When the product came in the mail we eagerly opened the box. She was so excited but I told her she needed to wait until I could verify the gluten free status. I was disappointed when I saw very clearly the box states "No gluten containing ingredients". This is sneaky speak for no way to know if it's really gluten free. I further looked at the ingredient panel and it states at the bottom "Processed in a facility that also processes peanuts, eggs, soy, wheat, and other tree nuts." I have included pictures of the boxes I received. I went back to the Amazon listing of the product and clearly saw on the image of the box where wheat was NOT listed in the possible contaminations!! I was so upset. If I had been new to the gluten free life for my daughter and not known better to inspect the product I could have caused my daughter to have a flare-up and had to watch her be miserable for up to a week. Thankfully, I knew to inspect. When I proposed a question about the product being gluten free, after I had purchased, the company answered back that there are no gluten containing ingredients but did not add the additional information that there may be cross-contamination!! After all of this, I feel this is an intentional act by the company to market a product as gluten free to appeal to people that are searching for gluten free products, but has complete disregard for people that truly need gluten free products for their continued health and wellbeing. This is a company that I will NEVER purchase from again and I follow the KETO diet so I was so excited to find another company that I can turn to for snacks for both me and my daughter.
