My family has been using these 500-sheet, 2-ply rolls for a few years. I have also recommended them on my blogs and other web sites as a greener, more cost-effective, no-plastic TP option. We are working to become a no-new-plastic household, and that is the main reason I order these rolls from Amazon. It is the only way I can get them without plastic wrap. For a long time, I loved the Amazon service as well as the product. The rolls arrived in a perfectly sized container that exactly held them without added packaging. The paper was soft enough, didn't scratch or abrade, and didn't ball or pill when in use like so many softer products. A single roll lasted longer than any other tissue. The past few orders, however, have been disappointing. The quality of the paper has gone down. Although our habits have not changed, the rolls don't last as long. The price has gone up tremendously. From $48+ a year ago to $59.36 in December 2012, to $73.53 with our latest shipment. That last is an increase of $14.17, or 24 percent from one shipment to the next with with no warning and for lower quality. Worst of all, Amazon shipped the rolls in two boxes. The usual box, the one that fits the rolls perfectly, was packed inside a much larger one. Lots of plastic pillows filled the remaining space, totally obviating the reason we buy this stuff from them. I'm deeply disappointed in both Amazon and Seventh Generation. I'll be hunting a more eco-friendly, no-plastic option. UPDATE 08/20/2013: On 8/12, I again wrote to Seventh Generation about this issue and received the following answer on Monday, 8/19. "When ordering the 500 ct Bath Tissue from our site you should only get the cardboard box with the paper wrapped product inside. Amazon likes to add some extra packaging." In about a month, I'll run low on tissue again and will order directly from Seventh Gen. I'll return here to report the outcome.
