Daring Greatly...not enough depth, too much credential establishing repetition.
I truly expected and wanted to love this book because it came recommended by a mental health therapist who is a friend of mine. The more I read, the deeper the disappointment set in. If I eliminated all the pages the author spent establishing her authority and credentials, there would be nothing more than a pamphlet left. I kept reading and hung in there hoping to get to the spiritual meat of the book, which seemed to boil down most problems in life to shame and stepping up to the arena of life. Brene's examples of problems lacked depth and fell under the category of first world problems such as, her name wasn't placed on the top of the poster at a speaking engagement, her daughter didn't swim as fast as the others on the swim team, she responded to an angry e-mail with curse words instead of being the better person. The only knowledge I walked away with after reading Daring Greatly is that Brene Brown doesn't teach with the wisdom of an old soul.
