UPDATE it died just after the 2 year warranty expired.
I have only had this kettle for about five days, but I use it about once or twice a day. There is a point I want to make straight away before I get into my Pros and Cons. This kettle's warranty is voided if the user does not descale the kettle at least every 60 uses. The descaling solution must be purchased separately. I will use likely use this kettle about twice a day. This means I have to descale this kettle once a month. What I find particularly annoying about this, is that most small appliances that require descaling, simply advise doing so a couple of times a year, and some suggest every 3 to 6 months. I do not doubt that descaling is necessary to maintain the life of the kettle, but the fact that it is mandatory every 60 uses, and they go so far as to void the warranty as a penalty, tells me that this kettle cannot handle hard water as well as others. Pros: It is easy to use. - The single wheel LED interface is simple, and the display is clear and concise. The features that I like: - The temperature control - The temperature specific stay warm function coupled with boil dry protection (in case still warm is active, but there's no more water) - The soft and pleasant ding when the desired temperature is reached - The fact that I can bring 16 ounces of water to 175 degrees for green tea in two minutes which is about 3x faster than my traditional kettle Cons: It is virtually impossible to pour all of the water out of the kettle - There is a recessed lip all the way around the inside at the top-most glass-to-metal barrier (visible when upside down and attempting to empty) - This lip catches the last bit of water you are trying to pour. I do not like to leave small amounts of water, even if only a small pool, in my kettle It is not easy to clean - The main reason for this is the small opening at the top. I cannot fit my hand in to wipe down the inside - Considering I am always going to be contending with a small pool of water, the fact that I cannot reach inside with a paper towel is annoying Quality Concerns - The kettle vessel feels much more well built than the base. The base feels cheaper by comparison, which gives me longevity concerns - To add to this, the clickable button inside of the single wheel is sloping slightly but noticeably to one side. The button has a naturally slight give and can be rocked around just a bit by wiggling around the tip of your finger while in contact. But I'm referring specifically to a slight, but noticeable sloping to one particular side. It still functions, but I do not remember it being that way out of the box. As long as it continues to function, and the depressed slope does not worsen, this is only a minor nuisance, and I'm not taking any points off for it at this time. This is the first electric kettle I have owned. I cannot compare it to anything else out there. There are design flaws and requirements which will make maintenance a headache. So far, it gets the job done, and for me, I think 3 out of 5 stars is fair. I will update this review with any new good and bad discoveries as they come to light. **UPDATE** I owned the first one for 2 years (2017 - 2019), and I had to order a new one because my sink overflowed and a small amount of water on the counter ruined the base and it wouldn't power on. I just assumed the water shorted it, and so ordered another. The second one I ordered just had the base fail a month after the 2 year warranty expired. The cheapness of the base was a point of concern in my original review. I've adjusted the review to 1 star, this kettle is not worth the price tag; there are too many design flaws.
