Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I have read one or two things by this author before and honestly if i had realized that fact beforehand i probably wouldnt have bought it. Dont get me wrong, its not BAD, but its also not really good either and i really dont understand the mass of 5 star reviews. The world building is non-existent, we get no real info on what is going on or what is possible. There are mentions of i believe one other nation and that is it, im not saying info dump on us but give us more. The magic is boring and lacks depth. Some of this can be attributed to the fact that it is the start of ther series but we dont get to see or even hear of the possibilities. What can the magic actually do? What can it not do? No idea. The characters themselves are basic cookie cutter and honestly that brings me back to what i wrote at the start. The author seems to just be another formulaic blueprint kind of guy, fine for some filler in between series that pull you in but at least in my opinion hardly worth the praise for a series like this.
