Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I'm afraid this book fails, miserably, to live up to the hype. It's published by Amazon, under its Lake Union imprint, and I think that has EVERYTHING to do with the publicity and positive reviews this book is getting on this site. There is no way this author would have been signed by a reputable publishing house because her writing is so stilted, her characters not only underdeveloped but diametrically opposed to themselves, and her plot so riddled with gaping holes. It reads like a teenager's first attempt at a novel. I cannot, for the life of me, understand the rave reviews. Nothing about the story rings true, every scene is written as if it's an outline for a more robust story, and the plot is so disjointed I was literally shaking my head in disbelief as the author failed to do more than create one-dimensional caricatures. It's so, so bad.
