FICTION!
Please take it from someone who knows. This book is literally fiction and is full of lies. I grew up traditional Jewish in Israel in different types of Jewish communities then moved to Queens and Brooklyn and experienced several Jewish communities, both religious and not. For the Jewish communities, I had very close interaction with all types of Jews and religious sects. I chose (was NOT forced to) become religious at the age of 18. I have not regretted my decision even once since then (It’s been over 20 years). So much of the “facts” in this book are only the author’s perception and not at all actual laws in Judaism. I always wore red polish and heels. I was always fashionable and my wigs were always very long. I dated my husband for several months without any pressure from anyone to get engaged after 3 dates. NONE of the dating and marriage rants and lies mentioned in the book are true. I was encouraged to go to law school which I almost did but chose to start and run my own nutrition company. My husband and community have been supporting my CEO and business women status since day 1. I have 5 kids, not the “required” 6 or 8. When I had 3 or 4 and even 1/2 no one expected me to have more. It was a choice I made. I have friends who went to the same schools Julia talks about and have never experienced these “stories”. I get it, sensationalism sells. The book needed to be dramatic and extreme so basic stories wouldn’t do but why make up literally lies ?! Just because Julia wanted out does NOT mean the “facts” she lists are true. They are absolutely not. This book isn’t an honest account, it’s literally fiction. Julia, I hope you find your way back to what’s real one day. Until then, please stop spreading lies.
