After purchasing our second extra large cool pad in a month, please be aware that the covering for the pad is fatally flawed. After just three weeks, small cracks developed in the cover on both sides. Our retailer replaced the cool pad and within a week the second cool pad cover was showing signs of wear including another long crack. Our 76 pound golden loves the pad, but it is clear that the material used to cover the pad is not adequate to handle normal usage of a large dog. We assumed that since the cool pad is sold without an additional cover that the covering was capable of handling large dogs. It is not. In our opinion this very expensive pad, while a great idea, simply needs to have a much tougher cover. Large dog owners should be very cautious if you purchase is for a large dog.
