Beautiful, Sturdy, and Spacious but...
These lunch bags are amazingly handy as many things can fit in there due to it's awesome design. The bottom stretches and kind of widens so you can really stuff things in there. The design itself is sturdy, like the other reviewer said, you can wash it multiple times and it still holds up. The overall appearance is beautiful, there are so many different designs to choose from it just seems so great to give it to my son. I was gifted this beautiful bag since my son loves astronomy. Upon my son opening the gift even I smelled the awful strong smell of chemicals and what others described as gasoline. I am a mom with concerns when it comes to a lunch box smelling like poison so I hopped on amazon to try and find the product. Now I see in the description it is made out of Neoprene;
Neoprene is a stretchy fabric made out of synthetic rubbers that are produced by polymerization of chloroprene. To glue Neoprene to other materials they use Formaldehyde, Toluene, Phthalate, and Chlorine. Wikipedia says; "It is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is widely used as an industrial feedstock and as a solvent. Like other solvents, toluene is also used as an inhalant drug for its intoxicating properties; however this causes severe neurological harm."
And then I was just shocked and really at the same time not surprised;
"Lead-containing compounds, such as litharge (lead(II) oxide), are used as compounding agents to prepare finished products made of neoprene, and these can have a toxic effect on human blood, kidneys, and reproductive systems."
Great, I'll let my sweet boy walk around in school and be cool with an awesome unique lunch bag that has lead in it. (I'm being sarcastic)
This bag is made of the cheapest nastiest chemicals to make wonderful cheap things for the rest of us. The cheaper it is created the lower the price, and we all jump to it of course. But YOU need to put a warning label on there. This is my recommendation, and for the sake of humanity don't buy such chemically created products. We need to be more aware rather than feeding and giving in to this industry unless it is what you want. It is rather cheap, it is sturdy and looks really nice; you decide. I made up my mind and gave the gift back so my mom could return it and get her money back.
