READ THIS before buying! Not at "pure" as you hope . . .
This initially seems like a great idea, especially for baby's water. It's not, for a couple of reasons. 1) TDS (total dissolved solids) is not a significant health hazard. It's more a surrogate for other things going "wrong" in a water source and is a "taste thing." As such, this water tastes great (initially), until 2) it stops functioning, at which time your water starts tasting and smelling like dead fish. Now, think about it: when's the last time your water out of the tap tasted or smelled like dead fish, and how many times would you like to PAY for a device that's going to make your water taste/smell that way at some point, only to lower a TDS measure that doesn't mean a whole lot? 3) Take a look at the photo I've attached. This is what's inside the water filter. This does NOT look like a natural substance. There's circular filter in there, but even that is some sort of plastic, I think. Then, there's the medium, which is a little charcoal and a LOT of the same microbead-like substance found in diapers. Not only is this stuff terrible for NATURAL water supplies (i.e. if it makes it into water after you throw it away), it can't be good to run water through it just because it lowers TDS. What about hormone mimics? Hormone blockers? Mercury? Arsenic? Nitrates? E.coli? TDS is ZERO on the scale of things to be worried about in your water, and while doing so may make your water taste great, I wouldn't run my water through a diaper just to get it to taste better. Regular $$ and maintenance is a must for this product, or your baby's stomach will be soured with every bottle, as ours was. We went through 3 different formulas before realizing the problem was the WATER (filter), not the formula. Poor baby! Find a way to purify water that has less of an environmental footprint and is less of a potential health hazard (if not regularly maintained) than this.
