These Dust-Off Gas Dusters are not so well priced...
as I had originally thought. Ordered the Compucessory Power Duster from Amazon at a less expensive price than the Dust Off ones and I am very pleased with the product (The Compucessory) one, NOT the Dust-Off. I've deleted two stars because in thinking about it, NO can of compressed air should be difficult to use and these are; they are difficult to press to spray, and the top mechanism itself is not as it should be, just a simple press and spray. It's almost like these cans are what was once called "seconds" or rejects or whatever the terminology these days is when merchandise cannot be sold in the average retail store because of some defect. I live in New York City where the hardware stores charge anywhere from $8.00 to $10.00 per can for compressed air. And that's all it is, compressed air, so brands never really entered the picture until I ordered these and had a very difficult time with the top mechanism on the can. Usually you just snap off the plastic tab at the top, place the straw provided in its place and presto, you're ready to go. However, these cans of Dust-Off, were difficult to maneuver because of the way the top spray mechanism is placed. I've been using compressed air for 40 years, and have never, ever had to think twice about it. The Dust-Off cans, in my opinion, turned a simple task into something more complicated and time consuming and that just shouldn't be... The spray mechanism is hard to use and I also felt like the amount of compressed air per can seemed to get used up more rapidly than they should have, and since I am not even slightly double jointed (if there is such a thing as being "slightly"), I wouldn't order these again unless they were one third of the price and even then I'd have to think about it. For first-time users, PLEASE DO NOT SHAKE THE CAN of any compressed gas... Just flip off the top plastic tab, put the straw in the designated hole and spray. When the can starts getting cold, stop for a while and let it warm up a bit before using it again. This is true with any compressed gas spray. You have to get accustomed to how much pressure to use and to use short spurts. Once you've acquired this simple skill, compressed gas should be so easy to use you don't have to think about it. The Dust-Off brand just was difficult and different from what I'm used to in terms of pressing down to use it; I found it awkward to manipulate, which made an extremely easy task, more time consuming than it should be. I guess I was surprised because I had never experienced any difficulty with compressed air before, no matter what the task was at hand. I also felt that the amount of air in each can seemed to get used up quicker than they should have and I went through the four cans rather rapidly, so this made me question whether or not I had been sent the original Dust-Off brand or some kind of imitation. I'm convinced that the design of the top mechanism is defective. After so many years of using compressed air, from photography to computers, and all sorts of different ways, I had to question why I was having difficulty using this particular product. Something was amiss, the design of the top mechanism, the pressure required for use, the rapidity in which the air was used up in each can. When you use a product for so long, when something is different, you notice it right away. The air pressure is as it should be, but it usually is, and doesn't warrant any extra stars because this is the way a can of compressed air should work. Try another brand. The Dust-Off air pressure isn't any different than the Compucessory brand, nor should it be in any other brand. Compressed gas (or air) are all the same. Order the one I mention or any other brand, but don't waste your money on this one. Compressed gas dusters (or whatever fancy name they're giving pressurized air these days) are all the same by any other name. So why order a product that wastes both your time and money? The price may be attractive, but in this case you are not even getting what you paid for.
