No help for US-based cooks
So I pre-ordered this book and waited eagerly to receive it. That finally happend a few weeks ago. I browsed through the recipes and bookmarked several that I wanted to make. When I finally got around to is, I was so frustrated that every recipe I was interested in required some ingredient I'd never heard of! I realize that Edd is based in the UK, but since the book was released in the US, I think his editor should have included an index or glossary telling us Yanks what we could use as a substitute! "Cornflour" is one example that comes to mind. Is it cornstarch? Can you subsitute regular flour? I googled this with unsuccessful/inconclusive results and ultimately decided not to make the recipe at all. Next up were several recipes that used "caster sugar". I know this isn't readily available in the US either. Thinking I could proceed with regular sugar, but Google advised caution - not the same thing. At this point I was ready to just chuck this book. Luckily for me, I was still within the return window, which is what I did. Just to restate, I am not critisizing Edd. I think his editor(s) did him (and US-based cooks) a huge disservice by delivering a cookbook that is not user-friendly AT ALL.
