After a few months, it breaks
I've had two of these. Amazon exchanged my first one, but the second one did the same thing. This tray works GREAT for about a month or so...then, it mechanically fails. When you pull back the arm, the slots are separated for some inexplicable reason. The grooves of the long vertical piece that is attached to the pull arm (which then connects to each individual horizontal piece) comes loose, so you are not able to dislodge the ice. The picture I'm attaching might shed some light on this. I then have to reassemble all the metal slats after each use. It's a major pain in the ass. I have been looking for a non-toxic solution for making ice and I thought this was what I was looking for, but it's a major disappointment.
My hope is that the Onyx Company reads these reviews and address the mechanical issues. When these types of ice trays where popular in the 1950s, I am SURE that they lasted for more than 30 days before breaking down. Can Onyx not immolate the original designs?
