Is mopping really this hard?
After an extensive search, I realized that there are really no good mopping robot vacs on the market! I was super excited when I came across this robot on Amazon especially since I own a Bissell Crosswave upright hard floor cleaner already (which works excellent). I watched this robot cleaner for a couple to a few days and I bought it the same day the price dropped from $399 to the $299 .
We have smooth, high-gloss ceramic tile for the majority of our flooring and other hard flooring throughout our home with no carpet. Buying this robot mopping vacuum that had dual scrubbing mop pads and has "Hard Floor Expert" in the name seemed like a easy and smart choice. Apparently, I made a poor choice!
This robot vac has no smart navigation features like lidar, laser, or etc so it cannot map out your house. Initially, I did not think this would be a big deal but again I was wrong. This robot vac would bump into alot of things, miss areas, and it would cover the same areas multiple times. Additionally, the app is very limited in terms of functionality. Admittedly, this was frustrating enough but the last straw came when I noticed that the wheels could not gain traction in the damp areas where the vacuum had mopped until it just gave up shut down and then threw an error and just sat there beeping. I thought this could maybe be a fluke so I ran it a couple more times and each time I let it run uninterrupted it failed to complete an entire cycle.
The icing on the cake was when the vac would stall out. I tried to use the app to get it going again possibly or at least get it to return home but each time the app intentionally locked out of the functions so I had to manually go to the vac and reset it.
I liked the double front spinning brushes, the sleek design, the large docking pad to keep water off of the floor when the vacuum is not in use. I even liked the pulsing blue charging light but none of this matters when this vacuum can't properly clean the floors that I bought it for.
I am very disappointed to say the least and we have already started the return process.
Update: 4/7/2021: In my robot mop search I came across the Roborock S7 and I bought one before they sold out here on Amazon. The mopping performance is excellent, it is not perfect but it is very good.
