The reviews are great on this scanner, and I also had an older ScanSnap duplex ADF scanner model about 6-7 years ago that I loved—such engineering. But I’ve had this new ix1600 scanner now for 24 hours and have spent 4 hours trying to connect it to my PC and get the software installed, and am totally flabbergasted at how difficult they have made it. The instructions are SO confusing, going in circles, unclear about how many programs I have to install, how many .exe files I have to download; a link to “manuals” takes me to a page of downloads for software that I have already been to. The scanner display seems to know it’s IP address and can find and connect to my network, but it does not show up or appear able to be added to my PC. This is a god-awful mess. Did they do any user testing? And I have 30+ years in the software industry, including doing installation software and writing user manuals. I cannot believe this mess. I have to take a break now and have a stiff drink.
