Disappointed In The Quality
I'm disappointed in this heated cat house. I am part of a feral cat TNR rescue and have put together other brands of cat houses. The main brand which I like best comes in the color green. That brand is better in these ways: It has more to the inside/side material rather than just covered cardboard. It doesn't have an odd pull cord for the sides to hook to the bottom as this one does. (Shown in one of the pictures.) The heating pad states that it is made for outdoor use, as well as, indoors. However; the cord itself is not nearly as thick as the other brand which is also coiled corded to help against any chewing. There is enough room in this house for 1 large cat. I took a picture of my large black cat in it. It can hold 2 smaller size cats. I'm not sure if I will pack it up and send it back or try it out for an outdoor stray cat that is too scared to come to me but will stay by my backdoor. It's too cold now to let it just stay outside with only straw to nuzzle into under my porch steps. This product in my opinion is not as good as the other. I would first look at how the cord is constructed if putting it outdoors. Sometimes buying a non-heated cat house and buying the outdoor heating pad that states it is made for outdoor weather with a coiled cord and putting it in this house would be a good option. I would like to mention that house will not hold up heavy snow nor is it waterproof. I haven't seen any fabric cat houses that are. It will take placing it somewhere it can be covered to hold up heavy snow, as well as, covering it with tarp, put up on bricks, or on some wood to keep it from getting soaked. I also have built rubbermaid tote feral cat houses and put an outdoor heated pad with a coiled cord in it. Instructions on how to make one can be found online. It eliminates the need to be placed somewhere against heavy snow fall and in rain, but it still needs to be placed up off the ground so that water doesn't come inside. I hope this review will help in making a more informed decision before deciding on what brand of outdoor cat house would work best for you.
