We actaully had to use it finally after having it for a while...were very disappointed. We got our vehicle in some deep water in the middle of nowhere, Pushed the SOS button, and had to hike out the next morning to get cell service to contact our local Sheriff's department ourselves. There is now an investigation going on. We were wet, and it was freezing, so we were very uncomfortable, including a 70 year old man that happened to be with us. If one of us had a heart attack, they would have had no chance, since we did not get help from SPOT. They claim they called another Sheriff's department, and the deputy there said that they had contacted us and said we hit the SOS button by mistake. They need a verification system, because if they did contact them, and this deputy was just too lazy to come to our location, there was no way for them to know that, and we were to get no help. As I told the people at Spot, if this would have ended with one of us, or all of us, dead - they would have been talking to our lawyers instead of us. I am very disappointed with the response that I have gotten from Spot. And they have made no indication that they are going to do something about verifying when they have someone that is supposed to be there to help you out of a bad situation decides not to help because they would be inconvenienced and tells them that it was a false alarm. I didn't pay for this service to get that kind of response.
