Yes it works, however this unit should be included at time of purchase with the Ring. The Ring Video Doorbell by itself is deficient without the Ring Chime. It's vastly over priced and quite disappointed that when I installed my Ring Video Doorbell learned that it could not be heard in the home unless you had this device or had your smart phone with you at all times. This is impractical also the Ring Video Doorbell packaging is very misleading as it states and I quote " Connects to your existing Chime" That is patently false and very mis-leading. That is only true if you have a hard wired Chime. If you have an existing wireless chime, you are subsequently forced to buy The Ring Chime- Very very misleading - product works but be prepared to having to spend addition monies to get the full capabilities from the Ring Video Doorbell. (Please see image of box that speaks to the issue of the Door Chime compatibility
