Seems like a good idea, but it's not. Surprisingly resilient to blows from a hammer.
I saw this and thought "Damn, that's a great idea!". As with most times in my life that I've thought that, it turned out terrible. First off, when it was working, the holes in the back are large enough for a fair bit of tea detritus to seep out. I don't understand why you'd put a fine screen on the front, and then just mold some larger holes in the back. Also, if you open it up after using it and tap it on the edge of the trash bin to empty it, you can count on having to fish the screen flap out of the trash, because it comes detached pretty easily. Now on to the fun part, where I apparently put too much tea in the infuser, and when I attempted to squeezed the "good stuff" out of the tea, it popped open and dumped tea leaves all in my cup of tea. As I was angrily leaving the room to empty my cup and throw this POS in the trash, I stepped on a curtain and spilled my messy hot tea all over myself. It was at this point that I decided to see how well this item would take a blow from a hammer, while laying on a concrete floor. The answer is, surprisingly well. It took several good blows with a 16oz hammer to satisfactorily destroy this thing. It took about three to four angry blows to actually break through the plastic mesh on the back. The spring-loaded button part was the first to go, and then it just bounced around the floor, in fear of my enraged hammering.
