To start this review off, I’m twenty-four and need to use a cane when walking or standing for long periods of time. I have a few other canes, but I was looking for one a little brighter than some of my more neutral canes while still being comfortable. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was that the cane was significantly more blue than I was expecting. I don’t mind that much, since I like blue anyway, but that might be something to keep in mind if you were looking for a true teal. The second and more frustrating thing is that instead of the hard plastic piece that every image includes didn’t come with it. Instead, they expected to keep a folding cane closed with a flimsy Velcro loop? It doesn’t work very well at all to keep it closed, and it slips down any time you move the cane. I’m planning on using a plastic piece from one of my other canes in order to keep this one closed, but if it doesn’t include it in the first place it shouldn’t be included in the artwork. In addition, despite buying this new, the handle has a number of scuffs and indentations on both sides, which I wasn’t entirely able to photograph. The handle itself is much slimmer than any that I’ve had before, and I’m unsure if that’s a good or a bad thing yet. It also has a wrist strap attached to the end of the handle rather than beneath it, as I’ve had on other canes. All in all, I plan on using this alongside a few other canes in my rotation, but probably won’t end up using this one exclusively. [UPDATE AS OF 4/2/18]: Knocked it down from the original four stars to two for a few reasons: – It clicks and wobbles when I use it! Even when using it for short distances (from my car to where I work, for example), it seems a few seconds away from completely giving out. Not what you really want when looking for a cane! – After using it a few times, I realized why I’ve never seen a handle like this before: it’s SUPER uncomfortable. Unless you have extremely tiny hands that don’t cramp up, this isn’t the cane for you. I can imagine how painful this might get if you have any kind of joint pain in your fingers! On top of all that, there’s very little cushioning on the handle at all, so even if it was more rounded it probably still wouldn’t feel very nice. – The color coating started scratching off WHEN I FOLDED IT! It looks horrible where it’s scratched and I ended up filling it in with a light blue sharpie to hide the exposed metal. I had been planning on taking this with me to a convention very soon (since it’s very large and I’ll need to be walking around a lot), but I’ve now decided against it and am bringing my much more comfortable cane with me. Other than the color, I wouldn’t recommend this cane to anyone else. It’s super unfortunate, since I had such high hopes!
