I installed it with no extension piece needed, installation wasn't difficult. I could feel it wasn't going to be the strongest thing out there, but figured it would be better than the old piece of wood in the door track trick. Had it for about a week before I found myself locked out of the house, & I decided to test the lock bar & give it a little push while my wife was on her way home to let me in. Let's just say with very little pressure the locking mechanism broke & I was standing inside in under 10 seconds. I would get it if I had to really strain & work to get in, but it was scary easy. All in all, I like the idea, but it is just too weak to call it secure.
