Do not purchase this book if you think your getting an honor harington book. It is a shadow of sagnami storyline book and the majority of the book is backstory to "catchup" all the events and happenings througout the verse, but the main story arc is little moved. So, for those that love the details behind the curtain this could be your book. For most of us, I think we're seeing that this series has gone on past what the author initially envisions for the series. Let's look at it from my personal perspective, Almost all of the honor verse stories have been taking place in the same timeline we see the actions of months and years play out for us. However, This era is one with prolong, we could see a jump down the road od 25 or 50 or 75 years with the changes and ramifications from years of fighting, who's grown up? Who's died? This would be the time to utilize the backstory feature that Dave seems to have adopted in the last 3 books, but instead of going over events that occured months ago we could see things that have happened over the past years and decades. Everything would be new to us and we would love the expansion of that back story cause it advances the original arc for us. However, Dave has said he doesn't always know where the story is going until he writes it. So having a long term plan and expanded universe may not be something he can do. That said, I can no longer continue to read essentially the same book over and over again now for the third time with a few new chapters added here and there...it appears I may need to wait 10 years before I purchase my next honor harington book to finally get the movement in the story that I expected.
