Not good for me
Update: Here it is Sept 2019. I was reviewing the old Amazon reviews I've made, noticing yes, this is good, that's good, then I came across this Lugols. I originally gave it a good review, which was being too hasty. I'm revising that now, for what it's worth. After a few weeks using the Lugols, it became obvious it wasn't good for me. I ended up replacing it with Edward Group's product Detoxadine, and the Detoxadine proved much more friendly to my body, and I could have used it as long as I wanted to. However, long term I just returned to using the potassium iodide product by Lidtke , one tab per day, because it gives me a high enough dose of iodine, and my body has always responded well to it, even after taking it for years. Frankly, this Lugols was not good for me, and another person with a lot of thyroid issues reported the same experience with it to me.
I've taken a 32.5 mg potassium iodide tablet for several years, and thought I was getting adequate iodine from that. But according to Dr David Brownstein, while the thyroid and skin uptake and concentrate iodiDe (the reduced form of iodine), and other glands such as kidneys, spleen, liver, blood, salivary glands, and intestines can concentrate either iodiDe or iodiNe equally well, the breast and prostate glands are only able to uptake and concentrate iodiNe. That means, using the KI tablet, I haven't been consuming iodine in a form that can be used by all my organs and tissues. I would like to keep my organs cancer free, particularly my prostate. So I've decided to switch to taking Lugol's solution regularly. I'm so glad it's available.
When I first began using it I seemed to experience some negative symptoms (perhaps detox), so I backed off down to 1 drop a day, and slowly worked up. Now I can take 4 drops 3-4 times a day without issue (12 drops of 2% Lugols = ~30 mg iodine/iodide). Brownstein says in an old vid, "The problem with Lugols is it tastes nasty." True enough, if you take it in plain water. But I've found that taking Lugol's in a solution of Vit C water makes the Lugols much more palatable. I also use ReMag (liquid magnesium) in the solution, and those three together taste 'right' to me.
