Doesn't do its job!
I purchased ~$400 kit from SimpliSafe directly since their site had more kits than Amazon. I bought it for my house which was completely empty at the time but I wanted to make sure nothing was happening until I moved in. Within a day one of the motion sensors tripped around midnight - in a completely empty house. It must be real right?! We rushed 15 miles there to find literally nothing. Since we were in "training mode" not a single call was made to us. After we moved in, a cat triggered a different motion sensor – something we were told was not supposed to happen. I wasn't able to get the call but my wife cell was also on the account. She wasn't a primary contact so they sent the police... Thing is, I could not set up a second primary contact online, only by calling. The cat tripping the sensor happened one more time before I removed all their batteries and put them in a box. Now, I had the system set to "Home" basically just entry sensor mode and my wife opened the door. Nothing happened!!! It should have triggered, freaked out, alarmed. Something. I go over to the base station and the light is out. Outlet has power but the normal blue light is missing. I unplugged it and the alarm triggers as it regains power or whatever. Its really disconcerting that something that is supposed to make you feel safe actually does literally nothing but cause you stress and will probably not work in the case of a real break in. I saw so many reviews on Amazon and YouTube to convince me this was a good buy, but at ~$400 + $15/mo I might as well just pay a reputable local company to do it. That way I could actually get tech support, have a real person on the ground come fix the bugged system.
