If you read the description and look at the pictures, it says over and over again that it is "tempered glass". It is not. The clear part is some kind of plastic or polycarbonate. This is annoying because I don't like putting plastic in the microwave. The actual box that the cover comes in does not say, anywhere, that it is glass. Instead, it says it is "shatter-proof" and "BPA Free" (which, if true, would rule out polycarbonate as the material). Here are pictures of the actual box it came in (I don't see how I can show its clear, but not glass, in a picture).
