Cheap plastic vacuum - And they won't fix it when it breaks.
I purchased this vacuum shortly before Christmas 2014. In April of 2016 I went to attach the turbine head to the wand and found that the little plastic ring that the wand clips onto had broken off, so I could not attach the turbine head and therefore could not vacuum my carpets. I didn't worry about it, though, because I knew the vacuum was under warranty.
I try to go online to the Dyson website, and when I tried to get into the warranty section I find that it's broken. Okay, no big deal. I wait about a week until I have time to try it again. Website is still broken.
So I try and call in hoping to have my problem resolved. When I finally got someone on the phone (after having to wait through "unusually high call volume") she takes my information and proceeds to tell me that the replacement turbine head will be $75. At first I don't understand, so I ask her if she means she is going to charge me to replace the broken part. She says yes, because the warranty only covers manufacture defects.
She says that the best she can do is have me take it to a repair technician 30 minutes away to take a look at it and see if they would consider it a defect. I point out to her that the only time they are open is when I'm working, so in addition to having to drive 30 minutes out of my way, I also will have to take off work in order to get it there. And then if they don't determine that it broke because of a defect I'll still have to pay for the $75 part! This isn't acceptable.
I point out to her that when I bought the vacuum a friend warned me from buying a plastic vacuum. I laughed it off, quoting the Dyson name and the price ($300), saying, "It's not like it's going to break on me!" Well, I WAS WRONG, obviously. I've never had a vacuum become completely unusable after a cheap plastic ring breaks completely off. It's ridiculous.
The rep I was talking to insists that she can't help me at all. There is no one else that I can speak to, and the only thing she can do is forward my information to someone to call me back within 24 hours. I have no doubt that they will call back when I'm at work, if at all, and my issue won't be resolved.
I would advise everyone to stay away from spending this type of money for something that can so easily break, and the company is unwilling to take care of their customers when their equipment is faulty. Waste of money.
