I teach electrical safety and am an expert on power systems and devices. This unit only has a small capacitor and an LED as active parts. Because it has very limited cases for typically old style small transformers where it could help improve the power factor, it is garbage. Such devices would have to be on a large proportion of time though as this device actually consumes power. It is all MOOT anyway as you only pay for real power in the US, not reactive power. Don't waste your money. Invest in smart energy products and turn off lights when you aren't in the room.
