I was really excited because my espresso was 10x better using this grinder as opposed to my $40
This grinder worked wonders the first couple of weeks I had it. I was really excited because my espresso was 10x better using this grinder as opposed to my $40.00 cuisineart grinder. It is definitely true about having a good grinder can mean better coffee. Anyways, my grinder died on me within less than one month of daily operation once a day in the mornings. I called Breville customer support and they were more than happy to send me troubleshooting information. Once we finished troubleshooting there was still issues so they replaced my product no hassle; however, when I received the replacement unit from Breville it died on me after the first run at grinding coffee. Furthermore, after I contacted support for the second time about a second brand new device they tried to go through the same spiel with me about troubleshooting and how my coffee grinds could be old and stale.
As a result, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought brand new beans that were just roasted 2 days prior to purchase. The grinder still could not grind the coffee. As a result, I called back and explained to them and the person on the phone still was saying that it wasn't the machine. I began to get frustrated because the person on the other line was talking to me as if I haven't bought a nice $600.00 espresso machine with a $300 grinder and that I didn't know what I was doing even after I have proved to her that their troubleshooting didn't provide any desirable results.
At this point I was fed up because she was not being helpful and at the fact that I have not had a good coffee since my grinder took a dump. So, I figured I was done fighting with Breville over this and I'm going to return this product. THIS PRODUCT IS FAULTY BECAUSE OF THE CLUTCH AND MOTOR SYSTEM THEY HAVE. For some reason it isn't strong enough to grind the coffee and strips the clutch and motor. And then, when you call Breville support they talk to you like it is your fault, so just keep this in mind when you purchase this product.
I'm thinking they put poor quality parts in their machine that causes it to go bad like this but i'm not sure.
