We have kept Drinkwell and now PetSafe in business over the years and currently have four fountains in use. I have probably purchased 10-12 fountains total thus far. Unfortunately, we seem to be having bad luck with this particular part this year. We have bought multiple replacement pumps this year for the fountains that require this particular pump, both from PetSafe directly and from Amazon, and the parts have all died on us. I wonder if they have changed manufacturers. I purchased two pumps at once with this order and one of the two pumps has died 5 weeks after the order was placed. Interestingly enough, I own a different model fountain as well, also by Drinkwell/PetSafe, and that pump has made it at least 3 years now without failing. In examining the pumps I have received, there have been some different markings on some of the pumps than earlier models. I know this because I am a regular customer. I hope that this does not become a trend now that Drinkwell has been acquired by PetSafe--I don't mind purchasing new pumps a few times a year if necessary but if these pumps continue to fail so much more quickly than they have in the past (i.e. once a month), the trend will prompt me to look more closely at the competitor pet fountains. I have attempted to contact PetSafe about the recent problems and was advised to clean my pumps. Obviously, as a long-term customer of these fountains over the last 18-20 years, I know to clean the pumps!
