4/17/18. I SO wanted to like these cards. The cards themselves are great. They are excellent quality. They are 3x5 inches in size and they are pretty thick. Each letter of the alphabet comes with three cards. Example, for the letter A: Card 1) Red in color on the front with large letter "A", Card 2) Red in color on the front with small letter "a" Card 3) Red on the front with the word "apple". On the back of all of the "A" cards, the card has a white background and has the picture of an Apple on each. The same goes for each letter of the alphabet just in different colors on the front of the card and the corresponding animal/word for the letter on the back of card. This set also comes with six color flash cards (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). The front side of the card is the color, the back of the card is white with the corresponding color spelled out. Now, why did I give it only 1 STAR? For two BIG reasons. Number 1, the "I" flashcard has Ice-cream. Ice-cream makes the long "i" sound. I'm a preschool teacher. And when you are teaching a child their letters, you always teach them the short vowel sounds first (Apple, Elephant, Indian, Octopus, Umbrella). Number 2 (and this one is the big mistake) , the "G" card has a Giraffe on it. It's cute, it is. However, "G" in giraffe makes the "J" sound, not the "G" sound. They should have used a picture of a Goat. I feel the company can easily fix this mistake. And, here are my suggestions. Please add in the short vowel cards as well as the long vowel cards. And, please correct the "G"/"giraffe" card. I will still use the correct cards in my class... I will just pull the incorrect ones out while teaching.
