Not real happy with this item
Ok, first of all, it is insanely expensive. Just too much money for what is in the box and that is enough to drop a star off the rating. The kindle appears to be held in the cover tightly with the magnets. It looks like it might fall out but it doesn't. The kindle is tilted slightly in the cover and it appears to do so because the sound from the speakers will exit the cover and be aimed at you. There isn't any openings for the speakers, so this is helpful. The cover feels awkward and is a little floppy when opening it, but when holding it like you would a book with the cover laying against the back the magnets hold it tight and it has a solid feel about it and the cover doesn't flop. I am not real crazy about the way it feels when it is folded into the stand position. It won't stand well in my lap for watching movies, only on a table. So I have to hold it in my hands. When in landscape position the kindle wiggles when you swipe or tap the screen for the next page and it appears it's going to fall over. It hasn't yet, but......The worst part is when I stand it in portrait position. The on button touches the table and causes the kindle to shut down and restart repeatedly. So, no portrait viewing.
So all in all is isn't the best, although it feels solid.
UPDATE 11/3/13 It seems that the cover may be causing the HDX to restart without notice. I am thinking the on button on the cover is touching the on button on the HDX creating the situation. This is becoming aggravating because when it happens the HDX doesn't save the page of the book I am reading. I have to go in search of my place. Hoping a better cover comes out.
It just did it again and I have decided to return it to Amazon. The repeated shutting down of my HDX is not acceptable.
