Swing and a Miss
I really wanted to love these muffs. After trying them for a full weekend of shooting, I am sending them back. Here are the pros/cons. Pros: 1. Good noise suppression 2. Comfortable 3. Bluetooth with separate volume control 4. Good-looking headset Cons: 1. Poor Bluetooth signal strength. - Worked fine while I was holding my phone but the connection was very sporadic when my phone was in my pocket. 99% of the time I would be using these muffs with my phone in my pocket, so this is unacceptable. I use many other Bluetooth headsets without any signal problems when my phone is on me. 2. Electronic sound amplification is non-directional. - I often looked the wrong way when someone would try to get my attention. This has never been a problem with my Howard Leight electronic muffs. 3. Wind noise. - While using the muffs, I would say it was breezy, NOT windy. However, the wind noise from the amplification mics was awful and made it very difficult to hear people talking to me from a short distance. I often just removed my muffs when no live fire was occurring. I switched to my Howard Leight muffs to compare and it was a night and day difference between the two for wind noise. The concept is great and I really hope they address these problems. If not for the cons listed above, I think these would be amazing and I'd be recommending them to everyone. As is though, I'm sending them back and continuing my search for shooting muffs that let me enjoy music, and protect my hearing while still allowing me to hear what is going on around me.
