After 20 seconds, when the green LED goes out, the unit goes into sleep mode to conserve battery life. One problem, if exposed to water after the initial 20 seconds, there's an audible alert only - no wi-fi communication - no email notification - no IFTTT notification. So, if your water problem occurs in the first 20 seconds, then great it works as intended and you will be notified, afterwards it's just a "dumb" water sensor with an audible tone - NO OTHER NOTIFICATION WHATESOEVER. I tested it several times before contacting D-Link customer service. They responded with (direct quote): "After you reset the device and set it up again, the LED light turned green > then went off after 20 seconds. It's just normal because the device is on > "sleep mode". I would also like to inform you that the device will not > notify you if it's on "sleep mode" and we were already aware of it. DLink > team is currently working on a latest firmware that will solve the issue." I've requested an expected date for the firmware fix from D-Link and received no response. THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE MARKET UNTIL THEY FIX THIS.
