Sadly, the quality is gone
I had purchased one of these 3 or 4 years ago and fell in love with it. It was durable feeling out of the box, all the knob or switches felt tight, not loosey-goosey. The steel was of good quality. We live in a very hard water area, so every couple of weeks the minerals would build up and I’d have to use vinegar to clean off the deposits. That was expected. Right before Thanksgiving it broke. With daily multiple uses I felt it had given excellent service, so I bought another one.
Some corporate genius decided to cut costs in the interim between my purchases, and boy, does it show! Knob and switches are loose...don’t have that quality snap. The whole thing weighs less and feels chicklet; I could tell they’d cheaped out in materials right out of the box. The “steel” on the bottom inside looked duller and more aluminum- ish, rather than the bright shiny steel of the previous one. It now builds up those mineral deposits within 2 days max. I had to get one of my green scrubber pads and scrub out a little rust spot that appeared last week. Shame on you T-fal!
Save your money folks and try to find a better one. As soon as this one fails, which I predict won’t take very long at all, I will be on the hunt for a better one. I left my feedback with the company. Passing that along (🙄), was all they offered to do, apart from asking if I wanted to mail it to one of their service centers to be looked at. The rep was pleasant, but I told her unless they had a magic wand to fix the quality of the materials, that was not going to fix anything.
I think more and more of us need to complain and stop buying from these companies that shipped off everything overseas to get cheaply made. Maybe then they’ll eventually restore quality to the American consumer.
