Broken product in every way
Having been a fan in the past of Native Instruments software and hardware products, purchasing this new soundcard was a no-brainer for me. To say that I'm utterly shocked and disgusted at my experience with this product is an understatement. For starters, I've owned the product now for 10 days and am STILL unable to access the drivers or included software for this product. You must use the "Native Access" program to download it. I've entered my serial number into Native Access as directed, it accepts the serial, and it's 10 days later, still no driver download appears or any of the software advertised with the Komplete Audio 2 appear for download. I'm not the only one either, a quick search on NI's support boards shows thousands of people having the same problem across all of their products. It's pretty much the worst possible nightmare imaginable when being forced to use installer/security software. The software designed to make their software secure, winds up making their PAYING customers unable to use what they've paid for... It's truly unbelievable. Onto the 2nd problem. I eventually was able to find a direct download of the driver only on Native Instrument's website. The driver software is atrocious, looks like it's still in beta, with virtually no options available to change. You're unable to change the sample rate, the bit rate, and many other options you're used to seeing in your professional soundcard's driver software. It's basically, plug it in, and hope that its default hardcoded settings work with your application's needs. The actual problem in all of this though, is that ASIO is not working for some reason. Any pro-audio or editing software I boot up, it won't allow me to use the Komplete Audio 2 as a result of ASIO not working. The software interface for the driver software even states plain as day "ASIO not active". Of course there's no settings in the driver software to possibly correct this. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times, ran Windows Update, etc. No way to solve the problem. Lastly, and the biggest problem of all. Having all the issues above, I immediately filed a support ticket form with Native Instruments. I received an email confirmation after submitting it. It's been 10 days, still no response from Native Instruments. Utterly shocked, I went to the support section of the NI website, and used their online support message board-like ticket system. Filed 1 ticket about not being able to download the software with Native Access, and another about the ASIO driver problem. It's been 8 days, still no response. And there probably never will be a response. There's no other way to contact Native Instruments for support for their products. Let that sink in. There's no phone number, no chat system, no email address. Just the two ways that I tried, and you will not receive a response. There's people on the support site that are complaining that it's been a year and their support tickets still have not been answered... So, to summarize, the driver for this soundcard is a broken mess. It will not work for your audio programs. You can't change necessary settings. There is no way to download the included software for this soundcard. And any problems you encounter, you will never receive a response or support from Native Instruments. I'll be returning mine. Stay away.
