This fan is not reversible in the sense that you can exhaust air from a room. It is not designed to do that. It is reversible in the sense that there are control switches on the inside AND outside of the unit. Yes, someone outside could actually change your settings or even power it off. It only fits in the window in one direction (blowing into the room).The description is not a good one because of these issues. Now, having cleared that up, it is a nice fan if you want outside air to be brought into the room. I live in a hot climate and wanted it as an easy exhaust fan for an enclosed porch. If I lived in a cool environment and wanted to bring warm air in, it would be perfect.
